OTS 2: Microbial Pathogens & The Gut Microbiome
The “Microbial Pathogens and the Gut Microbiome” session focuses on diverse aspects of gene regulation and virulence control in gastrointestinal pathogens, including regulation via small RNAs and small proteins as well as interspecies communication. In addition, interactions between diverse species of the intestinal microbiome and the mycobiota as well as how these interactions can impact host colonization by pathogens are discussed.

OTS 5: Proteine Turnover And Secretion
Transport across the cell envelope of proteins, peptides, and small molecules requires highly specialized translocases in environmental, commensal, and pathogenic bacteria, whether they are surrounded by a single or double membrane. The session on “Protein Turnover and Secretion” will address topics that relate to identification, structural determination, functional characterization, mechanistic understanding, and therapeutic targeting of transporters or their cargo.
